Our office provides complete eye care for adults as well as children. During your comprehensive eye health examination your eyes will be checked for any potential eye disorders or diseases (glaucoma, cataracts, dry eyes, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.). Your visual skills and abilities are carefully evaluated and appropriate treatment is prescribed, whether its medication, lenses, or vision therapy.
We are prepared to handle your eye care needs with the latest in diagnostic equipment and eye care technology (Optovue OCT, Macuscope, Digital Retinal Imaging, etc.). A series of simple, non-intrusive test will be administrated by one of our optometric technicians or by the doctor to gather information that the doctor will use to evaluate both your vision and the health of your eyes.
Our goal is not only to have you look great while correcting your vision, but to help you keep your eyes healthy and seeing great for a lifetime.
Pediatric Vision Care
Having your child's eyes evaluated when they're still at an early age will improve their chances of avoiding harmful conditions and give Dr. Tsiftilis a chance to determine whether they will suffer from poor eyesight. We recommend that children as young as three years old visit us for a routine examination. Poor vision can make it difficult for kids to socialize, participate in sports, and perform up to their academic potential, so it is important to have their eyesight evaluated.
The appointments we have with younger patients focus on educating them about their eye health, but are determined by the patient's age and individual needs. Generally, these visits include vision, alignment, and general health tests.
Vision is a dominant process in the growth, development and daily performance of children. In fact, 80% of what students learn is through vision. Students with poor vision can be misdiagnosed as learning impaired, as having attention deficient disorder, or can be left behind from their peer group.
**Illinois law requires that proof of an eye examination by a optometrist or physician who provides eye examinations be submitted to the school no later than October 15th of the year the child is first enrolled, or as required by the school for other children.**
Dry Eye Care Center of Excellence:
Dry Eye Examinations
A comprehensive dry eye evaluation will allow our Doctor to determine the best treatment regimen for each patient’s individual condition. Not all dry eyes are the same, nor is the treatment. This requires a comprehensive dry eye evaluation in order to assure long term eye health, clear all day eyesight, and all day comfort. This is why our Doctor performs specific tests to determine the various forms of dry eye and tear film abnormalities, and to identify potential treatment strategies. Careful clinical observation, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate intervention can eliminate or minimize the deleterious effects of ocular surface disease and dry eye on the quality of life.
